Is the blade of the sword sharp? The sword is designed primarily as a collectible and most collectors will display it in a prominent location. Even though the blade is real 400 series steel, we have made the cutting edge dull for collectors. How do I care for the sword? Stainless steel is very resistant to rusting and corrosion, but, for regular maintenance we recommend coating the blade in a light coat of choji oil (used in Samurai sword care kits) or mineral oil (found at grocery or pharmacies), every few months. Light machine oil is another option, but, do not use machine oils with detergent or chemicals in them. Oil collects dust, so if you do not want to clean and re-apply with oil every few months then another great option is a wax sealant.
