How much does the Strider bike weigh?
The Strider weighs 6.9 pounds, which is 1/3 the weight of a comparable pedal bike with training wheels. Since the Strider is so lightweight, it is easy for a very small child to maneuver around or over obstacles. The bicycle is also small and light enough that a parent, grandparent or caregiver can carry it if the child chooses to walk, such as a big hill the child is not comfortable riding. The compact Strider also fits easily into the backseat or trunk of a car for an outing to a park. [Back To Top] • Does the Strider have brakes? We recommend that the beginning rider only uses his/her feet against the ground to control speed and to stop. For the advanced rider, there is an optional foot-operated rear friction brake that stops the Strider quickly. The foot brake is easily mounted under the metal frame, and with a touch of the child’s foot, friction is applied to the rear tire, stopping the bike. The foot brake is available from the “Accessories” page of our online store. [Back To Top
