How much does the permit cost?
The Sheriff may charge up to $60 for an initial application, and $25 for a renewal application. The applicant must also be fingerprinted and photographed by the Sheriff’s office, and the fingerprint cards sent to the Nevada Highway Patrol for a background investigation. NHP charges a fee for this background check.
There is no single fee for the building permit. Fees are based on the square footage and the amount of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical involved. The building permit fee will be collected at the time the building permit is issued. A plan check deposit is paid when the application is initiated.
There is an administration fee of $20 per annum for the issue of a permit. GST does not apply to Resident Permits. Applicants that have a Pensioner Concession Card, a Department of Veterans Affairs Gold Card specifying War Widow, or a Department of Veterans Affairs Gold Card specifying TPI are exempt from paying this fee if they produce a copy of the card when applying for a permit, or renewing a permit. The permit fee covers the issue of the permit, the forwarding of a renewal advice to you, plus the replacement of your permit should it be lost, destroyed, or you change your vehicle. Only one fee is payable between the date of issue of the permit and the expiry date shown on that permit. Carlton and North and West Melbourne area residents are required to pay a fee of $80 for their second permit.
