Middle school teachers are not paid any differently from any other teacher in Ohio. They are paid based on the level of their education and then on their experience in the system. There are median salaries and average salaries. Some of that determines how many teachers in the state have how many years of experience. So if teachers are fewer and perhaps have been teaching longer, the average salaries will behigher. You should be looking at beginning salaries as well as salaries at about step 8. The NEA does keep track of salaries and give averages and median on a by state basis. The Ohio Dept of Ed. should have those figures as they have what every teacher is paid. You could call Columbus and ask the Dept of Ed what the average middle school teacher makes (but it is really the average teacher).
