How much does Social Security Disability pay?
SSDI, or Social Security Disability Insurance , is run by the Social Security Administration. There is no State Government involvement. Sometimes people confuse SSDI with SDI (State Disability Insurance). While both are funded by taxes on your paycheck, one is funded with Federal taxes, the other with State taxes. Qualifying for SSDI is a very long process. You can expect a minimum of four months and as long as 9 months or more depending on many things: the severity of your disability, your current and past medical records, and the report that will be generated by Doctors that they will send you to see. Basically, you have to prove to their Doctors (and a Social Security worker or two) that you are physically or mentally disabled. A lot of people are denied the first time, but a large percentage of those that appeal are often approved. Don’t expect it to make sense…it is a system that relies on very little logic and is incredibly overworke
