How much does postage normally cost on an invitation? What if mine is a square envelope or a postcard?
If you would like to send out a postcard for your Save the Date Card or RSVP Envelope, a standard 4″x6″ card will cost $0.28*. If you would like to send out a standard sized letter weighing under two ounces, postage will be $0.44*. A letter weighing over two ounces will be $0.59* and up depending on the weight. If you would like to send out a custom size like 4.5″x4.5″ square, then this requires an additional $0.20 nonmachinable surcharge since the USPS machines that feed the mail require a 1:3 ratio on letter sizes. Since a square does not fit into the 1:3 ratio, an additional $0.20 will need to be added to the standard cost of the letter. For example, a 6″x6″ square envelope weighing 2.5 ounces will cost $0.79 ($0.59+$0.20). *Note: All pricing above is based on USPS standard pricing as of 2010.
