How much does NPQH cost and who pays for it?
Since November 2010, the National College has not charged maintained schools and non-maintained special schools for attending the programme, but continues to charge £3,800 for non-maintained and independent schools. The trainee heads’ school usually funds their participation in the programme. The National College no longer provide a one off payment to maintained schools and non-maintained special schools for costs incurred by the programme, such as travel, subsistence, and supply cover whilst the Trainee headteacher attends their placement. Please note that should a trainee head withdraw from the programme before completing their placement, their school/employer will be charged the subsidised rate of £760 as a contribution to the cost incurred whilst on the programme. For small schools the existing subsidy policy applies which is paid in two parts, the first being after the trainee head completes the regional introductory day, and the second payment is following graduation.
