Neutering cost depends on what your vet wants to charge. In the UK, chipping is sometimes offered by the PDSA, RSPCA or the Police and it is much cheaper than the Vet as they normally do it for cost. Maybe you could just keep your eye on the local paper and get it done when someone is offering it cheap. The procedure is really simple so do not think that a Vet is required. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice and is just injected under the skin of the shoulders, then it is tested and you are given a certificate with the number on.
