How much does membership cost?

Upon joining Toastmasters, you will find yourself paying three different fees. One is the standard $16.00 fee that every new member must pay in order to receive educational materials (see below). One is the standard International dues, $3.00 per month. One is your Club dues, if any. All Toastmasters clubs are billed in March and September for semi-annual dues for their members who wish to remain members for the next six months. If you join in between those periods, you submit a pro-rated share of the dues. Clubs usually charge dues on top of the world dues. This is so they’ll have money in the treasury for expenses. It’s up to each club what they want to charge. Some clubs waive the club dues for new members and only assess them at the semi-annual dues payment dates. There are no dues for government operated civil aviation training institutions to participate in TRAINAIR. There are, however, costs involved. The costs are primarily those related to the establishment and maintenance of a Course Development Unit. The main start-up costs include equipment acquisition costs (computer equipment) and the training of the Course Developers, which many times includes a period of on-the-job training with an ICAO Expert in the TRAINAIR methodology. As start-up costs typically exceed the resources available within a training centre’s budget in developing countries, they are normally funded through ICAO Technical Cooperation Projects. Ongoing expenses are those involved with maintaining a Course Development Unit and consist mainly of personnel costs (Course Developers and support staff), equipment costs, office supplies and costs involved with attending regular TRAINAIR conferences and seminars.
