How much does it cost to open a driver education school?
TEA has a one-time application fee of $1000 for an original driver education school license plus an additional one-time fee of $30 for your school director. There is also a requirement that you have a corporate surety bond (or equivalent) in the amount of $10,000. Your bonding agent can tell you how much the bond will cost per year. If you already have one DE school and are opening a branch location (which TEA considers to be a school, also), the application fee for a branch is reduced to $850 plus $30 for that school’s director. The branch school bond requirement is $5,000.
