How much does it cost to join a country club?
Country clubs run the gamut. Some exclusive clubs are by-invitation-only. A current member must sponsor you and guide you through the approval process. There is a One-Time Joining Fee. It can be anywhere from $500 to $25,000. Then, there are yearly membership fees that run anywhere from $150 to $5,000. Then, there is a monthly restaurant fee. These differ quite a bit but the bottom line is, you gotta eat at your club’s restaurant or lose the money (there is a minimum). Some country clubs will give you a lower fee just to play tennis with restaurant and other club facilities — except golf. Make sure you understand what you get for your membership. Some country clubs charge court fees on top of the above listed fees. Some charge guest fees, should you want to bring non-members to play. If you don’t plan to play golf, you may want to join a tennis-only club instead. While a country club may be located conveniently next to your home, the benefits may not outweigh the cost.
