How much does it cost to get my dogs tumor removed?
Funny you should ask. I’m in British Columbia and just had a tumour about that size removed from my dog, if you mean 9 cm rather than less than 1 cm. It cost about $1300, including the initial exam, bloodwork and urine testing, post-op meds, follow-up appointment for stitch removal. You don’t even know yet if it is a tumour. They can do a needle biopsy to check, and that doesn’t cost a whole lot. Only a vet can say if your dog is in good enough health to survive the surgery. That’s one reason why they do the bloodwork and urine testing, to check that out. Age might or might not have a lot to do with it. The dog’s health is the major factor. I’ve known dogs much older who had surgery and were just fine. I’m afraid I can’t point you to any good cheap vets. Best to ask people you know, even people you meet in the dog park, ask if they have a vet they like, what their experiences have been. You can even call vets and ask what their scale of charges will be, but it’s kind of hard for a vet
