How much does it cost per month to live in Sydney?
Don’t bother renting furniture. It is ridiculously priced. Buy new ones and sell them when you move. Electricity, if you are a modest user, about 15-20 a week. 20 or more if you use air conditioner (summer’s coming, most probably you will use air conditioner). Phone and Internet, say around 80-120 dollars a month, depending on the deal you get. Line rental is about 25-30, Internet is around 30-60 broadband, aout 5 to 30 GB download capacity. Furniture: head to IKEA. Other furniture shops in Australia are ridiculously priced. Unless you get a special deal, but generally IKEA is the cheapest. You can get single bed and mattress for less than 400 dollars, coffee table and desk should be less than 100 bucks each, chairs cheap. Grocery bill, prepare 100 a week. So overall, with rent of 300 bucks a week, you need at least 2000 dollars a month or more if you like to go out, party, etc.
