What passes code in a village is not always the best for your insurance. Most villages (in chicagoland) require a 4′ fence around a pool, however most insurance companies want a 6 foot to not raise your rates. I know the rate increase isn’t that outrageous (25 per year) if you have the smaller fence. Usually the only time people purchase a six foot fence is when their particular village requires it. The price difference from a 4- 6 foot fence is near double. I think most people can’t justify an extra $4000 vs $25/ year.
