How much does CPT fractionation add to the energy requirements of an ethanol plant?
The technology the ethanol plant employs makes a difference. But, generally, for a 130 million gallon ethanol plant, the increased electrical load is about 15 percent. Since CPT’s dry milling system doesn’t require drying, there’s no natural gas required there. At Renew Energy, the connected load for the entire fractionation plant is about 2 megawatts. The CPT fractionation system’s 90 percent load factor gives it leverage in working with the local electric utility for advantageous electricity rates.
