How much does bullying stop children from going out to play?
• Lots – the children are scared by older children they fight and try to take their money. Some young people have told us they feel safer when they are supervised by adults (for example play or youth workers). Does having adults around make you feel safer? • Sometimes but it could make matters worse. Costs of getting into leisure facilities • Does the cost of paying for things stop some children from taking part? • Travel costs are a problem with some children who live in the rural areas. Priority issues If you could do one thing to make the area you play in safer, what would you do? • Need to have separate area for older children. The Children gave a list of what they feel would make the area they live in safer. • CCTV • Adult Supervision • Railings and gates around play areas. • Signage around play areas • Age Limit • Buddy system works well in schools and may help with after school care.
