How much does an XBRL GL implementation cost?
It is impossible to answer this question in general terms, since XBRL GL can be used for very different purposes, and this means that its implementations can be very different in nature, scope etc. Having said that, one of the most common XBRL GL implementations is data integration, and available comparative metrics show that the cost is a fraction of the cost of implementation of a single ERP system, with a significantly quicker time to completion. Compared to an implementation based on middleware, the cost is probably comparable, but the benefits in the medium/long term are much greater.
