How much does American Crystal spend on environmental improvements?
We continue to make substantial investments to improve the environment in our communities. These investments include: installing equipment to reduce pond surface area by approximately 50 percent; increasing wastewater treatment capacity; installing odor-neutralizing equipment; and purchasing special equipment to cover ponds with straw mats. Since 1993 weve invested more than $60 million to build new, improved pollution control systems, and we spend $12-$15 million yearly to operate those systems.
