How much does a permit cost?
Fees and other charges depend on the type of permit. There are permit fees, plan review costs, and inspections costs. Deposits to cover future costs are also required. Permit fees are assessed based on the type of permit and the amount of right-of-way, if any, impacted by the permitted work. Plan review time and inspection time are charged by the hour. Fee schedules for various permit processes are set by the Board of County Commissioners. Some projects will entail review through various permit processes before approval and/or permits may be granted. We suggest that you contact the department with specific details for your project. In this way, staff can help determine what permit processes might apply to your project, and what the associated permit costs might be.
Structural permits are based on the construction value of the project, plan check fee is due at the time of application submittal and is 65% of the building permit. • Electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits are based on the individual fixtures being installed and depending on the scope of work may require a plan review which is 25% of the permit fee. • Sign permits are based on the size and type of sign being installed and a minimum plan check fee of $35.00 is due at the time of a application submittal. • Demolition, re-roof and structure move permits start at $135.00. • Additional fees required to be paid at the time of building permit issuance may include: • Systems Development Charges (SDC) for structural permits resulting in additional or new impacts to Streets, City Water, City Sewer and Parks; • Review of site plan for structural modifications will result in Planning Fees; • State Surcharges on all permit fees of 12%; Administrative surcharges on all fees of 4%.
