To have a standard paternity test started, we only require a nonrefundable partial payment of $99. From there, we will do our best to accommodate your payment needs. Please note that your test results can only be released once the balance is paid in full. A standard legal paternity DNA test (1 child, 1 alleged father and 1 mother – mother’s participation is optional) performed by Universal Genetics costs $395. We are proud to offer the most competitive prices among all DNA testing laboratories with the same credentials including AABB accreditation. A lot of them only cost $325 + $300 if you want to speed up the process and get your results faster. That’s $625 total. If there are more than three people getting tested, there is an additional fee. Some places charge a few thousand dollars (up to $10,000), but the less expensive ones are just as good (usually). You’ll need to have paid the full amount before you will get the results. I suggest paying it all upfront, because that can speed it up and make it easier later. You can usually set up a payment plan, though. You could ask her if she’d mind getting a paternity test done (some are more willing if they’d have help paying for it). That way you wouldn’t be bossing her. That is if the child is already born. There are fetal paternity tests available in some places and they usually charge more for that kind than the kind where the child is already born.
