How much does a Paraglider cost and how long do they last?
This varies between makers, models, countries and phases of the moon, but a new middle of the range canopy and harness will normally cost somewhere in the region of $3000 to $4000. As with hang gliding second hand equipment is available at lower prices, however it is strongly recommended that this equipment is carefully inspected as paragliders age and wear much faster than hang gliders. Also the rapid pace of development in this sport has rendered many relatively new canopies obsolescent, so although you may be able to get a beginner rated canopy, with low hours and in good condition, cheap it may not measure up well to current benchmark safety and stability standards. General wear and tear and deterioration from exposure to ultraviolet usually limit the useful lifetime of a canopy to somewhere in the region of two to four years. This obviously depends strongly on use.
