How much does a new average bike cost??
There is no “average” bike. There are several styles for different kinds of riding. If you are really serious about getting a bike you should visit several different bike shops. Talk about what kind of riding you expect to do and go from there. Like others have said you’ll see prices from about $300 up to sky high depending on what kind of bike you want. For example; in the June issue of Bicycling magazine there’s a Pinarello Prince road racing bike that goes for $12,000! I’m guessing that’s not for you. Here’s a tip from a former shop employee (me). When you go in to chat don’t do it on a weekend when they’re busy. Go on a Monday or Tuesday morning. They’ll have more time to spend answering your questions and you’ll be able to get a feel for what the shop and employees are like. Most people who work in a bicycle shop don’t do it to get rich.
