How much does a custom stained glass piece generally cost?
A. This depends on the size of the piece, the complexity of the design, and the materials used. The industry standard is to charge by square footage which includes the cost of glass, materials and labor. The cost also varies by artist, size of studio, and region of the country. My contract asks for 50% down and the remainder when the piece is finished. For panels larger than 2 square feet, the cost can vary from $100 – $300 per square foot. Smaller items, and ornaments are far less and can range from $25- $200 each. Repairs are estimated on materials and labor. Gift certificates are available in any amount that can be applied towards any piece.
