How much do vets usually charge to put a dog to sleep?
Depends on the vet and your history. If it’s the family vet that your dog has gone to her entire life, they may not charge you, especially if you have other animals or would get a new dog and continue to use their services. The vet I worked for never charged his regulars. If if was someone he’d never seen before he would have to confirm the diagnosis, or at least make sure you weren’t just bringing in an animal you didn’t want anymore, so he’d charge for an office visit (~$30) and another fee for the euthanasia solution, which would be minimal in a small dog.
