How much do the Canadian Blood Services Board of Directors get paid?
Canadian Blood Services is a not-for-profit corporation. Any profits generated must be returned to the corporation and are not paid out to the shareholders of the corporation. Board Directors who have accepted to serve with Canadian Blood Services are motivated by a concern for the well-being of Canadians. Board Directors do receive honoraria for their participation in Board meetings ($750 per day), and for preparing for such meetings and “days on business” ($500 per day). In addition, the Board Chair receives an annual retainer of $15,000. Serving as a Chair or as a Board Director is not a full-time job. The Board of Directors meets periodically as required.
