How much do photographers make?
Many photographers don’t earn their primary living from it- there are lots of expenses; especially with digital, where you have to replace your cameras every few years. Studio space, make-up artists, lighting and other equipment, software etc. Don’t forget that models don’t generally work for free, so until you’re established and have clients, you’ll be spending money to build your portfolio. Even on TFCD shoots, you’ll have expenses. For each lucky papparazzi that sold a photo to some celebrity magazine for $50k, there are literally thousands who made nothing, but spent the same amount of time camped out and driving around following celebs, looking for that one shot of Britney or Angelina’s new baby. Sure there’s money in weddings, but it’s a tough business.
