How much do members of Congress get paid?
Almost all members of Congress receive the same salary. In 2009, that number is set to $174,000. Members who have been elected to leadership positions in the Congress receive a higher salary – the Speaker of the House is set to be paid $223,500 per year in 2009; the Senate Speaker Pro Tem and the majority and minority leaders in both the House and Senate receive an annual salary in 2009 of $193,400.
