How much do math tutors charge?
I have been a private math tutor in the Bay Area (Northern California) for the past 5 years. When I first started, I was receiving $20 per hour, because I was still in school without a degree. As the years went on, I increased slowly because I was still without a degree. Around 2007, I was receiving $27.50 an hour, mainly because other tutors on Craigslist were requesting $50 an hour. In 2008, I was receiving $30 per hour, which was STILL under the asking price for most tutors. Now in 2009, with my B.A. degree in Math in hand, and with the bad economy, I have maintained the requests for $30 per hour, though in better times, I`d be asking for $35-40 per hour.
