How much do I get paid for a public holiday on part time?

That depends on where you are employed and under what award agreement. Some agreements do specify alternate arrangements for Easter Sunday (e.g. part time staff being paid their ordinary rate if their store is closed). Since you are in Queensland, the basic point is no, you do not get paid any extra. For the purposes of the law, Easter Sunday is not a public holiday in Queensland. That means that you are only entitled to your ordinary Sunday rate of pay because it is treated like any other Sunday. Neither of you will get overtime – you will get paid your ordinary rate of pay for a Sunday (e.g. time and a half, if you’re paid time and a half). The situation is different in NSW – Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are all public holidays under NSW law, so anyone working on those days is entitled to penalty rates at anywhere from double time to double time and a half.

What is your question?

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
