If i had to say, not much. Expectations do play a certain part of reality. But reality is much different. Expectations are just something we wish would happen in reality. Like how some people wish to be rich or famous. Then you might hear someone say “Wake up to reality!” I guess some would say expectations are like dreams or aspirations that someone wants. Generally when people refer to reality, most probably mean it in a way as if its something to be gloomy about. Some people say that this person might live to be a 100. Or people bet because they think they’ll win. Or some people say you’ll look good if you lose like 30 pounds. All expectations. Like how you say kids will be handsome when they grow up. Not everything lives up to expectations. Some people just work harder to reach it than others. For even those who work harder, not everything comes together as well. So although expectations do play a role in our daily lives. Some things are out of our hands.

What do we know of other moments, other Perspectives that we can ‘expect’ anything! It’s like making a ‘promise’, as if we were the creators of the moments of existence. We are not ‘creators’, no one is, we are ‘perceivers’. We can ‘expect’ that which we perceive, as in a ‘prophecy’ (perception of another moment that is commonly called ‘the future’). Reality can be ‘expected’! Commonly, (the vanity of) ‘expectations’ are a sure route to disappointment and suffering! Just as ‘illusions’ (intimately related to ‘expectations’) are the one context of the suffering of ‘disillusionment’! What is, is! Every moment of existence! Expectations are no more than ‘thoughts’, and that is their entire existence!
