How much you pay a babysitter depends on two factors: where you live and the age of the babysitter. If you live in a small town (where the cost of living is presumably less than a large city) and the babysitter is under 18, you can probably pay $6 – $8 per hour. An adult will probably charge $8 – $12 per hour. In a larger city, even a teenager will expect about $8 to as much as $15 per hour. If you have an adult babysitting for you, expect to pay $10 to $20 per hour in a big city. I live in L.A. and I’d be hard pressed to fing anyone that would charge less than $10 per hour, even a teen.
