We recommend at least 2 feet or more beyond the length of the longest flag that will be flown or that the flagpole can handle, considering you may want to fly a larger flag in the future. You will also want to factor in that, on occasion, the flag will be flown at half-staff. Locate the flagpole so that the flag will not hit or lay on objects during this time.
