How much distance is needed for a fireworks display?
Display distances vary depending on the type and size of effects used. The National Fire Protection Association’s code 1123 requires a minimum viewing distance of 70 ft. per inch of shell. An outdoor display will require 210 ft. to 1,120 ft. minimum viewing distance from the firework discharge area(s) to the spectator viewing area(s). An Indoor or Proximate display will require 15 ft. to 175 ft. minimum viewing distance from the firework discharge area(s) to the spectator viewing area(s).
