How much different is it to train cheetahs than to train tigers or lions?
It is different, because you find with cheetahs they are probably a little bit more highly-strung type of animal, but they’ve got a softer nature, so you tend not to have to worry too much about the aggression side of it with them. With the tigers, we do train them and condition them from a young age not to bite and scratch by taps on the nose or flicks on the nose, or a squeeze of the paw if they use their claws too much. With these guys, we do the same thing but we don’t need to do it as much, they probably pick it up a lot quicker. And you’d find if you were to get on their case with the cheetahs a lot more and be more forceful, it would actually ruin your relationship. They take things to heart a lot more than what the big cats do. The tigers sort of get over it a lot quicker.
