How much did it cost to build the original WHYACHI and S.O.W.(Son of Whyachi).?
Both bots cost a total of $65,000 to build. Material cost was $15,000 and the rest was labor at our standard engineering and shop labor rates. 3. Where are the two bots now? They are at Fuzzy’s Robot Club and Grill. 4. How long did they take to build??Terry Ewert had two months of engineering on both bots and it took 4 weeks after that to machine/fabricate parts and to assemble. At times there were up to 6 people working on them. 5. Why build a walking bot??The rules for Treasure Island allowed walking bots to be 50% heavier than the wheeled bots in each weight class. If you can design and build a walking bot that is maneuverable and somewhat fast, without adding much weight for the walking assemblies, you end up with extra weight for motors, batteries, and weapons. 6. How fast will WHYACHI walk?At the competition we limited the speed to 5 ft/sec or 25% of its maximum speed. We did this because we did not know how long the walkers would hold up at a faster speed. Since the competition w
