How much daily work does raising chickens take?
It depends on how many you are raising. We have 25 in our hen house. Our hen house is a large outdoor house. Our chickens are free to run the house. We only cage the rooster when we clean the house because he defends his territory, even against us. He doesn’t believe in, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” When we’re done cleaning we let him out and run like heck for the door. Kind of a game we got going on with “Hank”. We let him out of the cage, and he tries to “box” the heck out of your shins or whatever he can reach by the time you reach the door. We collect the eggs first by the way. We get about 18 eggs a day with this many chickens. When ever you have any kind of farm animal, you must check on them daily or like us, a couple of times per day. We feed them twice a day, morning and evening.
