How much “computer horsepower” do I need to run PQ software?
The computer speed and power needed to run any software application is somewhat subjective; what seems acceptable to one person may seem slow to another. The general rule that “more power (processor speed, RAM, fast disk access, etc.) is better” is generally true. A 400 MHz Pentium II computer with 512MB of RAM does an acceptable job of running the PQ workstation software for most users. CHARTrunner, SQCpack, and GAGEpack perform database access, so these products tend to require more “computer horsepower” than the other PQ workstation products. For best results, we suggest that you install a trial of the PQ software product in which you have an interest, and see how it performs in your target environment.
