How much change to the distribution of funding is expected as a result of the REF?

We intend that the funding outcomes of the REF will be congruent with those produced by the 2008 RAE, but will reflect, over time, significant changes in the quality of research undertaken in particular institutions. Funding allocated through the REF will be phased in gradually, and we will smooth perturbations.
