Experts estimate that BCs CBG resource base is approximately 90 trillion cubic feet (TcF). Currently, BC produces about 1.1 Tcf of natural gas per year. It is uncertain how much CBG is economically recoverable but it promises to be a significant new growth area in BCs oil and gas industry. In the US, CBG accounts for more than eight percent of the total natural gas production and is a significant part of the US national energy supply.
