The human body, on an average, has about five litres of blood. This blood continuously travels through the body by way of the circulatory system. The heart, the lungs and the blood vessels work together to form the circle part of the circulatory system. When the heart pumps, it forces the blood on its journey. The circulatory system of the human body is basically divided into three parts, namely the heart, the blood and the blood vessels. The blood, in turn, comprises of four parts, namely the red blood cells, the white blood cells, the platelets and the plasma. There are three very distinct parts which make up the circulatory system of the human body. These three parts are the pulmonary circulation, the coronary circulation and the systemic circulation. The lungs are known as the pulmonary circulation, the heart is known as the coronary circulation and the rest of the system is known as the systemic circulation.
