While I can’t answer for ALL cars, I can tell you about a couple of cars to give you an idea. Your older VW diesels (late-80’s) draw about 12 Amps per glow plug, or about 50 Amps for all four. Also, I read abuot the Hummer diesels and they draw 50-55 Amps per bank of four (100-110 A total). Based on that, I think it’s safe to assume ~12.5 amps per glow plug as a rule of thumb. That is quite a bit of juice, relative to the other systems on the average car.
