How much are student teachers paid?
Student teachers are not paid. Cooperating teachers are paid for hosting the student teacher in their classrooms. They are paid directly by the college or university. The teacher contract states that they should be paid $200/full-time student teaching placement during 2001-2002, $250/full-time student teaching placement during 2002-2003, and $300/full-time student teaching placement during 2003-2004. However, please be aware that some colleges and universities are unable to pay this amount. Before agreeing to accept a student teacher, you may want to discuss payment.
