There is no breed of cat that can boast being 100% hypoallergenic. Millions of the so called hypoallergenic cats end up in shelters because they sparked symptoms in their owners. Allergens are produced in the skin, saliva, and urine of cats so all cats have the potential to produce enough to cause allergy flare-ups (even the hairless ones). The amount of allergens produced is dependent on the individual cat, not the breed. Unfortunately, the only way to identify a cat who won’t cause allergy flare-ups is through trial and error. Please don’t go buy a cat thinking just because it’s a certain breed it won’t make you sick. If you decide to go ahead and do it anyway, buy from a breeder who will take the cat back if it doesn’t work out.
