How much alcohol / methanol to inject?
Can I inject 100% methanol? Should I be injecting 50/50 alcohol/water mix? Can I inject 100% water? How much alcohol/water in relation to fuel can I inject? These questions are all too common. Let’s try to set the record straight on the ratio of alcohol to water you should be injecting when using alcohol injection systems. If strategically and properly installed, alcohol injection will: • provide more than 100% cooling capacity, meaning the air going into your engine will be colder than outside air; • alcohol will act as additional fuel on top of the fuel injected by your fuel injectors; • alcohol will increase the octane equivalent of the total fuel mixture you are injecting; • water, if added, will act as an additional cooling agent and will slow down the flame front even more, thus further increasing your octane equivalent and providing additional knock protection; • alcohol / water will keep your combustion chamber clean of carbon deposits.
