The 5-V regulators capability is limited by the maximum sustained power dissipation of the package. Soldering the MC33794 exposed backside pad to copper cladding on the mounting side of a PCB for heatsinking purposes allows the maximum available current to be drawnlimited by the temperature rise. Do not exceed the parts thermal rating.
