How might the concept of locus of control help explain both successful and unsuccessful students?
Successful students generally have an internal locus of control. This means that they rely on their own abilities and skills, rather than waiting for an opportunity to come to them. When they do not succees, they say, “I didnt get the job because my resume wasnt impressive.” Students with this locus of control will go farther in any career they choose because they are taking charge. Students with an external locus of control believe heavily in luck and attribute their successeson things like, “I got the job because there at the right place, right time”. They are passive in what they are doing and depend on their surroundings to make things happen. Hope this helps!
