This is a great time to begin coin collecting while also learning about U.S. history and geography. Beginning in January 1999, the U.S. Mint began the 50 State Quarterâ„¢ Program. Over a 10-year period, the Mint will strike a quarter in honor of each of the fifty states produced in the order in which the States ratified the Constitution or joined the Union. Five coins will be released each year. To obtain more detailed information on each of the State quarters, schedule of releases, design information or to purchase Proof or Uncirculated Mint Sets visit the U.S. Mint website.
