At least five of the teenagers had just gotten out of summer classes at Cody Ninth Grade Academy when they were shot, said the police chief of the Detroit public schools, Roderick Grimes. Two gunmen, possibly three, emerged from the green minivan and “asked for a person by name” before they “opened fire at the crowd,” Chief Grimes said. The teenagers, four boys and three girls, range in age from 14 to 17, said Rod Liggons, a Detroit police spokesman. A schools spokesman, Steve Wasko, said there was “nothing that we’re aware of at this time” linking the shootings with any fight or dispute at the school. Sources:
