AL: It takes about 18-25 years on the average to do with a traditional program. In that time you have to learn a lot about the human body and training it safely and effectively. Once you get to a 3rd degree you should understand angles of attack and body movement. Then at 4th degree you have to show that you are using your skills to impact your community with your Martial arts.
