How many years has Good Samaritan Ministries been operating?
HOLLAND — Ask Sara Byrd to describe her feelings about Good Samaritan Ministries, and the Zeeland woman’s first response would be, “Oh, wow.” Byrd credits the Holland-based clearinghouse for helping her family avoid homelessness after she and her husband, Quincy, were facing eviction two years ago because they fell behind on rent payments after unexpected car expenses. The Byrds were able to find affordable housing through the Community Housing Partnership, a program of Good Samaritan in partnership with Community Action House. The Byrds are among the latest area families to be assisted by Good Samaritan, which is marking its 40th anniversary as an organization that seeks to connect local churches with people in need. Executive Director Linda Jacobs said the organization is facing new challenges but is pursuing creative solutions to help meet community needs. http://www
